Welcome to Awaawa Yurts, a unique luxury glamping experience on Waiheke Island.
A yurt is a traditional dwelling consisting of a circular wooden framework covered with felt or canvas. Their unique design, with insulated walls and a central skylight ventilation system, helps to regulate temperatures naturally, keeping them cool in summer and warm in winter, providing a comfortable and cozy and weather-tight environment year-round.
In summer you can open up the sides of the yurt for extra cooling and indoor/outdoor flow – bug screens prevent any unwanted visitors during the night. If things get a little cooler in the evenings the insulated spaces warm up really fast with just an electric heater and will stay warm all night.
A holiday in a luxury yurt offers a unique blend of comfort and adventure, allowing you to reconnect with nature without compromising on luxury amenities. With spacious interiors, plush furnishings, and panoramic views, it provides an unparalleled retreat where you can unwind in style amidst breathtaking natural landscapes.
Awaawa Yurts offers three different options with 5m, 6m and 7m diameter. The difference doesn’t sound like much but the 7 metre yurt offers nearly double the floor area of the 5 metre yurt.
Whichever option you choose, you will be presented with a comfortably furnished, immaculately clean, premium accommodation each complete with hard wood floors, queen sized bed, pillow top mattress and luxury linens and towels. Each yurt has its own private bathroom; with warm-water shower; toilet and wash basin; housed in a separate building right next to the yurt.
Each yurt has a comfortable seating area inside and a space to relax outside. Papa Yurt is 5 meters across, with a floor area of around 20sqm. This is the most private option, tucked into the bush but with incredible views. The smaller area is also quicker to heat up and cool down.
There is a mini fridge, tea and coffee making facilities and a Nespresso machine in each yurt. Please note that there are no kitchen facilities available at the yurts, but there are excellent local cafes, bars and restaurants close by.
Located just a few minutes drive from the glistening waters of Palm Beach, each yurt has elevated views over the ocean and the surrounding gardens and bush. The layout of the yurts gives great privacy to each guest.
