The location is set high-up above Onetangi Beach affording views right across the island. To take advantage of the amazing views, the house has several outdoor areas for lounging, dining, reading or relaxing with a glass of wine. Whether you prefer full sun or a shaded spot with a light breeze, there is a spot for you.
As you make your way inside the house, you are welcomed by a warm and inviting space. The house was built in the 1940s and was constructed with exquisite attention to detail from the original Matai wood flooring to the negative detailed wall panels and the tongue and groove ceiling. The new owners have retained much of the original charm of the building, but have fully refitted the house making it an efficient and modern home.
There is a central command system that takes care of your entertainment needs, with high-speed internet, integrated ceiling speakers to deliver music to all areas of the house inside and out and a smart TV in the lounge and another in the master bedroom.
The home is fully insulated and stays warm in winter and cool in summer. Each bedroom has doors that open up to the deck offering a great ocean breeze in the afternoons and a connection with the outdoors. In winter the wood burner in the lounge keeps the house toasty warm.
Both bedrooms are spacious and offer excellent privacy. The master has a large dressing area as well as a reading nook. The second bedroom is a good sized and both have a super comfortable queen size bed and plenty of storage for clothes in the integrated wardrobes. Both bedrooms have their own bathroom, with an ensuite in the second bedroom and a large family sized bathroom adjacent to the master suite. The bathrooms come with luxury bath-sheets, premium shampoo and bodywash and a hairdryer.
The kitchen is large and very well laid out, with every appliance to hand including a double oven, gas hob, dishwasher, microwave, kettle and nespresso machine. There is also a gas BBQ for an al fresco cooking option. There are plenty of cups, glasses, plates and cutlery making this a great place to self-cater. In the butlers pantry next to the kitchen is additional storage and prep space, as well as a wine fridge and full laundry facilities with washing machine and dryer.
There are indoor and outdoor dining spaces available as well as a small office area, perfect if you need to get some work done whilst you are away.
The house is located close to Onetangi Beach – the largest beach on Waiheke Island, with it’s range of bars and restaurants. There is also a large Four Square convenience store, petrol station and fish and chip shop nearby. Onetangi is also home to some of Waiheke’s best wine producers, with Stonyridge, Tantalus, Wild Estate and Te Motu all close by. There is so much to do just in Onetangi you are going to wish you had booked a longer trip!
